From the battle of Quebec to the end of the War of 1812 in 1815, North America was one of the most active battle grounds. If at the middle of the 18th century, some Europeans thought Canada as “just a few acres of snow” not worth keeping, by the early part of the 19th century hundreds of lives and fortunes had been spent in attempts to claim part of it.
